Messi
During World Cup 2010, I saw a little man outsmart entire gangs. Often they would get desperate and resort to flat out grabbing him and restraining him. It didn't matter, he would just somehow outmaneuver them.
The opposing team had dedicated half their men (usually 6 or so) to taking this guy down but he ran through them like they were ghosts. If you don't watch sports, think of this as the scene in 300 where one guy cuts through a bajillion other people like they're butter. Except this is real life.
So I turned him into a Moga. Leo Messi in the zodiac Leo; har har =P
Moga based on the likeness of others are hard to do; it's especially hard to keep the resemblence AND make it likable enough that people want to capture the Moga. I requested he be kept a rare Moga, since he is a rare talent.
I used the picture below as the main reference. It was fun to keep his haircut and find his facial features kept well in a lion face. The medal is in reference to the gold medal he had won at the 2008 Olympics.
Messi grew up in poverty and had a growth hormone deficiency that left him smaller than others. At 11, he signed up with a football club in Spain that paid for his hormone treatments. He is now the greatest football player of our generation.

Aries Island
Monster Galaxy was released on iPhone today! ( Check it out here!)
This is Aries, one of the Zodiac Islands in the game. It was my first time drawing a map so I had fun learning to draw something I had seen a lot in games. Looking back now (a few months later), I see a lot of details missing, though given the size of the iPhone I guess it was optimal not to noodle too much on it. You could say we pumped these maps out :O
An early process shot of the island. As you can see from the square canvas, I was a total noob and forgot the resolution of the iPhone screen. Initially I had gone with a red island because Aries is a fire sign, but in the end I felt it was too harsh feeling for a starter island so I went with the green instead. (At least, it was a starter island in the initial plan)
Process shot of near the end where I added buildings and landmarks. It was fun to draw them all distorted and cute.

Mintaka
Character design of Mintaka, a character for animated items and the revamped Cash Shop on Gaia. She is one of the stars in Orion's constellations. We liked the name Bellatrix more, but sadly, Harry Potter has dibs on that for the next few decades.
Mintaka earlier in the process. Though I love drawing with a pencil and pen, I've found it faster to work digitally only.
She was introduced as a mystery character, hence the hood. I forgot if this one was finished and used.
One of her expressions used in the Cash Shop. It's fun to do expressions, they make the character feel more alive.

Crescento's Ship
Background for the new Alchemy shop on Gaia (http://gaiaonline.com). The ship is a paintover of a 3d model. I had about a day to work on this; I almost wish I had more time to noodle on it because I feel like it can be better, but I also know that more time does not equate to better art.
C&C welcome!
